Summer Game ‘n Grill 2011 is June 18th. Until then, consider this pre-game lounge to chat about what you want to play, places to eat and all that fun stuff.

Some numbers just get stuck in the head. I think I caught all the incorrect dates. It is, naturally, the 18th.

Any ideas on a good game for a tournament? Dominion again? Transamerica?

How long does A Game Of Thrones take to play? Or PowerGrid? (I love that game). Ideally, we need to have a game that takes one hour or less to complete. That way, with a couple of rounds we’re under 3 hours.

Memoir ’44 would make a decent tournament game – you just need a reasonably balanced, fairly basic scenario to build it around. A single round could be played in 45 minutes or so. You could fit in three or four rounds – single elimination or swiss-style depending on the number of players and the whole thing could be done in a total of 3 hours, maybe 4 for the top players.

But Agricola takes time as well… at least in the 2hrs +

I have a copy of Race for the Galaxy and it’s something of a favorite among my family of three gamers.
