And as the dust settles after Carnage, the eldritch aura of Winter Weirdness approaches the horizon.

Consider this thread your opportunity to chat about what you want to play on January 8th, good food to find in Barre and all that fun stuff.

Do check out the official Winter Weirdness web page. It has the first scheduled game — Alex (@alexbclay) leading a session of Android — as well as a link to a list of area eateries maintained by Siobhan (@siobhan).

I’ll be running Android, assuming there’s enough interest. Based on the number and willpower of the players, we’ll either play a half game or the whole thing. Rules are available on Fantasy Flight’s website, and it helps to have read over them, as it’s a fairly complex game with lots of bits.

EDIT: Rules available here: http://fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Android/android-rule-book.pdf (If nothing else, read the flavor text parts. It gives some nice backstory and sets up the games)
    A good reference sheet: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/39726/universal-head-android-rules-summary-reference

Would anyone be interested in trying out the new Gamma World? I’m thinking about picking it up and knowing there’s interest in playing at Winter Weirdness would be strong motivation.

Looks like it’s just you and me in this thread so far, Tyler.

I am certainly interested in Gamma World. Looks like it could be a fun one-off for Winter Weirdness or even lead into a longer campaign, maybe.

Depending on its reception, it could turn out to be a game day special kind of thing.

I played the old Gamma World in the 80′s. It was a change of pace from D&D. I belive Tony (@doctorclockwork) at Triple Play is starting up or trying to start up a regular group for Gamma World.

As for games at WW…. I was hoping for Brittania. There is also Italia, which is similar only in Italy. I can lay my hands on that and read the rules if anyone is interested? Maybe a change of pace…

I have started a 4 player Gamma World campaign that I’m running every other week down at Triple Play. We had our first session this last Tuesday, and it was a BLAST! Such a fun game, and as long as everyone’s on board with the madcap zanyness of the theme and setting, it’s a great time. I highly recommend it!

Our group’s characters are: A Yeti Empath named Groofus, a Telekinetic Electrokinetic named ELECTROMIND!, an Android Swarm that goes by the nickname Mouser, and an Octopoid Plant street performer girl named Surly.

FFG did it again… :( Teasing everybody about the release of the latest Galactica expansion “Exodus” before x-mas and then starting what they do best: pushing it later… now expected in “early 2011″ yeah right!!

I hope that they do not the same with Mansions of madness (original release schedule was for fall 2010) so we can at least have access to it before the next Carnage!

I plan on bringing both :) I think we got enough interest to fill 1 Britannia. I am always interested in trying out games I haven’t played before.

Good news! There are lots of more ways to things to go terribly wrong for the fleet.

I have acquired the new Civilization Board Game which looks like it’s a good one, but it takes a long time. I’ll bring it along and hope to get in a game. Perhaps it could replace Android if there isn’t enough interest for that one. I suppose I’ll be playing it by ear.

I got it recently also and from what i’ve been told, it takes approx 1hr / person + the time to learn the rules… Didn’t got the chance to try it yet.

I’m looking foward to this one as well… depending on the time you want to start this, i’ll be glad to play after BSG if possible… if not then they will surely have other occasions as well

I’m down for the TTR tournament and whatever else I can get my hands on. I’ve been unable to game much for the past several weeks, so I need my fix! I’m also hoping to get playtesters for one of my prototype games that I’ll be showing to a few select publishers in February… I need to tweak it still. Rules explanations currently take longer than the game play (which is very short), and I’m trying to fix that…

Anyone attending WW looking for FFG’s Battlestar Galactica (base game only)?

I have an extra copy I had originally bought as a Christmas gift for someone who ended up already having it. It’s still wrapped in shrink and if anybody wants it I can bring it with me to Winter Weirdness. I’d consider a trade for anything of comparable value on my BGG wish list (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/wishlist/RedShark92) – if anything looks interesting I can be messaged here, on BGG or by e-mail at [email protected]
