I am looking for gamers in the Addison county area. I would love to run a D&D game out of my house here in Middlebury? I’ve been a gamer since the late 70’s so I will and have played just about anything and everything.
I know there are gamers down in Addison County but not many seem to have shown up here at GMG. One new person just joined in the Rutland area (screen name Sofa Chair) who is looking for a game group. He may be willing to travel to Middlebury to play.
Next month, head over to GMG’s Game ’n Grill at the Isley library on July 21st. It’ll be mostly board games but if you are willing to run a one shot RPG campaign, let us know so we can post it so players know you will be willing to run an RPG. That may attract some fellow roleplayers that you can connect with.
If you want to bring some type of flier or handout to the Game ’n Grill asking about running a D&D game, that wouldn’t be a problem.
And, have you checked nearbygamers.com? If you zoom in on the map for Middlebury and Rutland, there appear to be several roleplayers in the area. I think once you register at nearbygamers, you can send them messages.
How often and what edition are you thinking?
Howdy! Not the best way to introduce myself, but my name’s Joe and I’ve been lurking as a non-member for a while now.
I’m in Bristol and I’d be up for some kind of roleplaying game. If we’re talking D&D I have limited experience with 4th Edition but have played the numerous ”retroclones” of earlier editions and Pathfinder, among other games. My current group has kind of drifted apart so I’m looking to get something going.
The only caveat will be timewise. I work a rotating schedule so don’t always have the same days off in a given week.
Still, post some more details and let’s see what we might be able to make work.
I am most familiar with 3.5 however I wouldn’t mind trying 4th. I have most of the books for it but haven’t really done anything with them other than browse them over. Being an old timer (player since late 70’s) I really was against the direction 4th was going however after watching an interview with RA Salvatore on the idea behind 4th; I could defintely see why WotC designed it that way. They changed 4th to cater to the current video game ADD/ADHD generation. I have a teenage boy who can’t get into 3.5 becuase it’s ”too slow Dad”. So, with that being said..if you guys are willing to try learning it with me then I would run it…or I could just go with the 3.5. I have campaigns old and new so I can go either way.
I was thinking an every other week schedule maybe a Friday night or even Saturday.
Let me hear your feedback…and yes I am flexible with schedule as long as you have your own or reliable transportation to and from. I would be flexible on a rotating location also if need be.
Hmm…my experience with 4E is pretty much limited to one or two games using the crappy Essentials trimmed down ruleset, but I have nothing personal against it.
I do like 3.5’s basic ruleset, but I’ve only ever played it through Pathfinder, so just a smidgen of adaption would be required by myself. Not much though.
Either way I’m up for it. I especially like the idea of an every-other week schedule and can manage nights fairly well. Afternoons…not so much.
Sweet, 3.5 is my favorite edition. I’m probably in if you have no problems with youth.
I’m okay with 4th too, it’s just that I sold my last book of that edition yesterday.
Any news, Monster? I’m still keen to see this happen and might (just might) be able to convince another potential player to join in, if it’s a lack of viable players that’s holding you back, that is.
As many players the better, I need at least 4; no more than 6 preferably. Not sure what you mean by ”youth” Sofa? I prefer gamers over 18 unless they are with a parent, I don’t want angry parents calling me if we play past a bedtime. LOL. So if Sofa, Joseph and Chuck are internested we should plan to meet sometime. Maybe at the GMC Game n’ Grill, or earlier. My email is [email protected]. Send me an email and I will get you my number.
Look at it this way, I am no ten year old screaming ”Whee, i’m on da internetz!”, but I can’t drive either. As for, angry parents, if you can know when the session will end an hour before it ends, it should be fine. So, it is your call as to weather or not you want me there.
I wish I could make it to the Game ’N Grill, but it looks like I’m going to have to work; otherwise, for my first GMG Gameday, I would have brought along my copy of Swords & Wizardry and run a one-shot adventure. :-\
That said, I’ll shoot you an email later today and who knows? My old group has pretty much disbanded and disappeared (out of state commitments, real life woes etc.) so it might be tricky for me to convince any of them to pick up their polyhedrals again, but I can try.
