Quarterstaff Games Donates Gift Certificates to Fall-loha

Posted Thursday, August 18th, 2011 at 6:39pm

Redeemable for games!

Hot in our hands for Fall-loha is a pair — that’s right, count ‘em, two — of gift certificates generously donated to the day’s festivities by Quarterstaff Games of Burlington. Two lucky game day-goers will each receive a $25 certificate to spend at northern Vermont’s long-standing purveyors of tabletop-related delights.

To put yourself in the running to win one of these gift certificates, you need only do two things:

  1. Attend Fall-loha. (But you were going to do that anyway.)
  2. Make a donation at the door, helping Green Mountain Gamers cover the expenses of renting the hall and all that fun stuff. While doing so, write out your name and contact information on the provided slip of paper.

It’s that easy!

Later in the day, probably around 4:00 or 5:00ish, we’ll hold a drawing right there for the lucky winners to receive their prizes.

Thanks again to Quarterstaff for kindly donating the gift certificates to make this door prize drawing possible. Open seven days a week, Quarterstaff may be found at 152 Church Street in the heart of Burlington.

Public Gaming Announcement: Quarterstaff Games on Facebook

Posted Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at 11:37am

For those who want to keep up with the latest doings at Quarterstaff Games in Burlington, you can now like them on Facebook.

A couple days ago, the store took control of the page automatically generated by what is probably a combination of Facebook skimming business listings for locations to include in their check-in function and Facebook users checking in at Quarterstaff.

In addition to Quarterstaff Games, you can also like The Book Garden, Montpelier’s tabletop game supplier, Triple Play, local game store to the Upper Valley on the eastern border of the state, Flights of Fantasy and  Zombie Planet, the latter both in Albany, New York.

The benefit of a store taking advantage of an up to the date network like a Facebook or a Twitter is customers can learn quickly about new product, sales and in-store events. Zombie Planet goes the further step of posting special coupons to their Facebook page for customers to redeem in the store.

Pathfinder Society Meetings Around Vermont

There are two Pathfinder Society groups currently meeting in or around Vermont that we’re aware of: the Northern Vermont Pathfinder Society and the Capital Region Pathfinders Lodge.

Northern Vermont Pathfinder Society

Pathfinders of northern Vermont meet every other Wednesday in the gamer lounge of Quarterstaff Games in Burlington, Vermont.

To learn more about the Northern Vermont Pathfinder Society, visit their Google group.

Capital Region Pathfinders Lodge

This group is still forming. Their first meeting is next Saturday, December 11th, at the Schenectady Wargamers Association‘s monthly Game-a-thon in Schenectady, New York.

For more about the Capital Region lodge, visit their Warhorn page.

More About Pathfinder Society

The Pathfinder Society is an organized play network in which role-players across the world play through official modules set in the world of Golarian using the Pathfinder role-playing game.

The attraction of organized play lies in two areas. It allows players to feel they’re part of a larger undertaking. In-setting characters and alliances may shift and change over the course of the world’s life.

Secondly, the campaign and the world don’t rely on any one single group. Players, characters and GMs can all come and go depending on their availability and the weekly game continues uninterrupted, thanks to that supply of prewritten adventures and guidelines of how to create and advance characters.

If you know of any other similar groups meeting in Vermont, please let us know in the comment section.
