Spring Meltdown!

Posted Sunday, April 8th, 2012 at 4:10pm

In two weeks, Green Mountain Gamers brings to you Spring Meltdown on April 21st from 10am to 10pm at the grange hall in Lyndonville.

Lyndonville has lots of delicious places to eat, although none are within walking distance of the grange hall. Because of this, Green Mountain Gamers will have some different food offerings at Spring Meltdown. Green Mountain Gamers will provide the usual sodas, chips and coffee. Instead of snack cakes, we will change it up and provide brownies and donuts (and maybe another homemade sweet). All of these items will be sold at our usual, very low price of 50 cents each.

At lunch time, a variety of cold cuts, sliced cheese, bread and condiments will be put out for you to assemble your own sandwiches. At dinner time, pizzas will
be ordered to provide a warm supper. A sandwich or a slice of pizza will cost only $2 each! We hope that these food offerings will help you obtain sustenance without cutting into valuable gaming time.

So come to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont for 12 hours of gaming! There will be a huge variety of board games to choose from, perhaps a role-playing game, and two Magic: the Gathering tournaments! If you want to pick up the latest and greatest game or some new Magic cards, you will be able to buy them from Dark Tower Gaming of St Johnsbury, Vermont or from Triple Play Games of West Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Green Mountain Game Days are always free. To help offset the cost of organzing these days, we do ask anyone who can to please make a donation (suggested $5) at the door. If you make a donation at the door, enter your name into a door prize drawing. The Spring Meltdown prize is a mystery, donated by Triple Play Games.

For more info, please visit the Green Mountain Gamers website. Read about Spring Meltdown and then join the forum thread conversation.

We hope to see you there!

Posted Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at 2:28pm

Spring Meltdown will have two vendors to sate your consumerist needs. Dark Tower Gaming, in addition to running Magic: the Gathering tournaments, will also be vending cards throughout the day. Triple Play has your board and role-playing games covered. If you anticipate any special requests, contact these fine retailers in advance to see if they can slake your thirst for shrink-wrapped fun.

Additionally, Triple Play kindly pledged a door prize to Spring Meltdown. And it’s a mystery door prize, to boot. Whatever the plunder may be, it will become the belonging of one lucky attendee of the Meltdown.

Spring Meltdown happens April 21st at the Lyndonville grange, from 10:00am to 10:00pm. For more information, including how to enter the door prize drawing, visit the Spring Meltdown page. Join in the conversation on the forum thread, or RSVP to the Facebook event listing.

Fall-loha 2010: A Gaming Luau to Remember

Posted Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at 4:28pm

The second Green Mountain Game Day, Fall-loha 2010, happened this past Saturday, September 18th at the Grange hall in Lyndonville, Vermont. It was a rousing success by any standard.

We played all kinds of games from 10:00 in the morning to after 10:00 at night, when the hall manager shooed us out. There was the Small World tournament, of course, which Ericka Reil won, receiving a copy of the Cursed! expansion. There were also open demos of the miniatures war game Flames of War.

Cyclades seemed to be a big hit, being played almost constantly throughout the day. The new releases Dominion: Prosperity and Back to the Future both got play time. Charlton Wilbur, story game evangelist to greater New England, led sessions of two games: Fiasco and The Shab-al-Hiri Roach.

Green Mountain Gamers would like to thank everyone who made the day such a success. Not just by your kindness in donating to fund the day, but participating and making it all such fun.

The really gratifying part was the number of people from gaming communities from all around Vermont — and even beyond — made the trip to Lyndonville yesterday. Fall-loha became an opportunity not only for the tabletop gamers of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom to get together, but to meet up with people from all over. There were people from Burlington, Bridport, Derby Line, Lebanon, New Hampshire and even Dorchester, Massachusetts.

Plans are already afoot for Winter Weirdness on January 8th in Barre, Vermont. Whether you couldn’t make it to Fall-loha or just can’t get enough gaming action, save that date — as well as November 5th through the 7th, which the weekend of Carnage, the biggest gaming event in Vermont.

If you couldn’t make it to Fall-loha, check out the pictures below for some glimpses of the day.

Goodbye Fall-oha, Hello Winter Weirdness

Posted Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at 12:55pm

Green Mountain Gamers is happy to say that our second game day, Fall-oha, was a gaming success! We had a good crowd of people travel to the Northeast Kingdom for a day of gaming. About 30 to 35 people came and went and at any given time at the hall, there were 20 to 25 people playing games. A lot of new games appeared as well as a lot of old favorites. We hope you are all enjoying these game days. The first photos of Fall-oha can be viewed on our Facebook page. The next game day, Winter Weirdness, is already scheduled for January 8th in Barre, VT. If you have any comments, suggestions, feedback you’d like to make in regards to our game days, please feel free to speak your mind. We’d love to hear how we can make improvements!
